Canvas at Leland Plaza is an infill mixed-use, affordable housing development located at the corner of Western Ave and Leland Ave in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood. The completed six story building is Energy Star certified and consists of 63 affordable dwelling units with supporting amenity spaces including a community room, outdoor terrace and 6,000 SF of commercial space.
The design champions equity bringing high quality, affordable housing to local workforce and artist residents maximizing community accessibility and preserving affordability. Additionally, the building activates the intersection with purposeful retail and outdoor patio space extending the length of the historic business corridor and bridging it to the Western Brown Line stop
The housing program consists of 25 studios, 29 one-bedroom and nine two-bedroom dwelling units. Supporting amenities include a community lounge with a sound proof recording room and a rooftop terrace with skyline views for residents to enjoy. Adjacent to retail, the ground floor also includes a public parking garage.
