Watt Tieder selected DesignBridge to lead the design of their new Chicago corner office suite. A blank slate, the space included coveted north and west views. Working closely with their team, we provided full architectural, interior design, and engineering services to create a workplace that emphasizes function and comfort for employees and clients.
Our concept centered on connectivity and contrast, while aiming to maximize usable space and spatial volume. The program requirements needed to accommodate a packed wish-list of three executive offices, eight private offices, two large conference rooms as well as a lounge for entertaining, leaving little room for open space, a copier room or a reception desk. To deliver this, we focused on specific but powerful solutions with a classic aesthetic.
Visitors are welcomed by a refined material palette with minimal detailing. A custom millwork wall creates a backdrop for identity flanked by smoked glass sliding panels. A dropped ceiling plane with integrated uplighting connects visitors from the reception area to the conference rooms, and culminates to frame an open lounge. Private offices are positioned along the perimeter and allow natural light to filter through the suite by means of clerestory glazing.
